Hello there - welcome to your circle! This is your circle's real time chat feed. Anything you type here will be sent to all people in the circle over email digest. Click on the blue circle button below to post your first message.
This circle is a place where we can gather to identify small groups for Now What?! Deep Dive conversations here on Sutra. Inspired by the possibility that we can learn to have dialogue online in a way that is far richer than the typical exchanges on Facebook, forums, etc., Sutra co-developer @lorenz Sell and I invite you to...
- Use this Circle to form one or more groups of 3-5 people with whom you agree to have a conversation on a specific Deep Dive theme
- Commit to have your conversation over a period of something like 4-7 days, and to check in regularly to keep the flow going, with a plan to spend something like ~2 hours in total in making your contributions to the conversation
Sutra has many special features that make it different from other platforms. One is the ability to have multiple nested and interlocking Circles. This is the "parent Circle" for all the Deep Dive conversations. Another special feature of Sutra is that it allows conversation designers to create "structures" that guide a group through a particular process flow. We have created one for these Deep Dives and we encourage you to give it try. You can also request a Circle that does not have this structure if you prefer to self-facilitate your conversation.
Please use posts in this Circle to identify one or more themes you want to engage on, as well as any specific contexts you want to explore within them. For example, you might indicate that you want to talk about Patterns, Processes, and tools for System Shifting Networks. And you might say that you are open to a general conversation and are also looking for people who want to specifically discuss June Holley's blog post on this topic.
Once a group has formed through some conversation here, you can set up a sub-circle (or ask us to do it for you) and move there for your dialogue.
NOTE: THIS IS THE STAGING CIRCLE FOR FORMING GROUPS, NOT THE PLACE TO HAVE YOUR CONVERSATION!
ONCE YOU HAVE A GROUP OF 3-5 PEOPLE READY TO GO, LET Lorenz KNOW AND YOUR CIRCLE WILL BE CREATED FOR YOU
I would love to support the formation of a few Deep Dive Circles here! Try using the Network Map as a tool. When you go there, you can click the Sutra button in the bottom right to see this view of everyone who said they were interested in a conversation here, and you can also sort by Deep Dive theme interest as well:
I spent the last few days at two events in Spain. The event in Madrid was one of those a-bunch-or-changemakers conference, mostly people with ties in business.
What kept bubbling up there was that many people - while agreeing that conversations are essential - say, let's move beyond conversations. Time for action. When I opened this board, the title "Now what?!" stood out to me. Because that's what I hear from "the field" a lot. We've had so many conversation, all of us, and now what?
I don't quite know how to go about the question. Maybe we could do a deep dive on the question what people individually do with that sentiment.
@benroberts - tell me what led to the title
I see that @teamwork and @tedrau are both showing up here and are interested in Patterns, Processes, and Tools for System Shifting Networks and also in Reverence in Our Work and Our Daily Lives. The former also interests @asimiqbal2 and @keala who have also shown up and made at least on comment in Sutra. Perhaps that can be a Circle? Are the four of you up for this, over the coming week? For it to work well, I think you will want to agree to check in once a day or so (if not more) to keep a flow going.
@teamwork Thank you for your beautiful post above. I have a request...
The idea for this Circle is for it to be a STAGING area to help people form SMALL GROUPS that then move to NEW CIRCLES to have their conversations. I'm sorry that the instructions were not clear (and I have edited the main post to reflect that).
Would you be willing to copy your lengthy post above over to some other place where you can access it later, and then delete it from this feed? The post is filling up so much of the thread right now that it is making it harder for us to accomplish our purpose of supporting Circles in forming.
@benroberts @laureengolden I have moved the relevant "How Do We Become the Human Beings Our World is Calling For" discussion posts to a new circle where the discussion can continue along that theme. I think it's a great topic and looking forward to seeing where it goes. I copied all the members of this circle to that circle, so if you're not interested, please feel free to remove yourself from the discussion.
@benroberts @lorenz Glad to, Ben. I see that Lorenz already deleted and reposted. I have joined the other circle. A lot of kinks to sort out for any new project. Onward and upwards! We are on our way. Thank you for this valuable work.
Hi @benroberts @lorenz is there a circle to discuss the way that this sutra-map system is working? I’m excited because it is the first set up I’ve seen that provides people and organisations on a map with easy, structured ways to self organise, supported by network weavers. Drew Mackie and I are working with four networks in London, using sumaApp and Kumu, but so far lacking the comms system. maybe sutra could work for us. Btw Ben I picked up on this through your Zoom call with sumApp practitioners.
@sahana2802 I just read one of your medium articles last night (because @laureengolden recommended them) and I loved them! Glad to see you're here.
