Sutra notices what your community keeps returning to. As members write, Cobolt gathers those threads into interests — the recurring themes running through your space. You don't define them by hand; you shape the ones Cobolt finds so they read the way your community actually talks.
Before you start
Where interests come from
Interests are inferred from what members write — discussion posts and reflections. Cobolt groups related writing into themes and gives each one a name. As more gets written, it re-clusters and refines them over time.
Turning the interests panel on or off
Open Settings → Cobolt AI settings for your space and find the Interests toggle. Turning it on shows the interests panel in the Members Map and lets you manage the interests Cobolt has discovered in this space.
Curating the interest list
With Interests turned on, open the Interest list. These interests are inferred from what your members have written, so the wording won't always match how your community talks about a topic.
Rename or rephrase any that don't read right. Your edits stay in place across re-clustering — a name you've set won't be overwritten the next time Cobolt re-analyzes the space.
Where interests show up
In the Members Map, as filter chips. Pick one to filter members by theme; pick several to see the intersection.
On member profiles, in the Interests & activity section — see the member discovery directory.
What happens next
Once you've curated the list, everyone browsing the directory and the map sees clean, recognizable themes instead of raw machine labels — which makes it far easier for members to find each other around what they share.
Troubleshooting
No interests yet. Cobolt needs enough member writing to detect themes. Quiet or brand-new spaces may show only a few, or none.
A renamed interest changed again. Your renames persist, but if a cluster later splits or merges, a new interest can appear. Just rename the new one too.
You don't want interests visible at all. Turn the Interests toggle off, or keep the whole space out of Cobolt — see Cobolt privacy.
