Every space fills up with names and avatars — but a list doesn't tell you who you'd actually click with. The member directory turns that list into something you can explore by what people care about and how they show up, so finding your people takes just a glance.
Opening the directory
From any space, open the Members area and select the Map button. The directory is one of the views you'll find there:
Directory — a browsable list of everyone in the space.
Map — members placed on a world map, or clustered by the interests they share.
Activity — members sized by how much they've contributed.

What you see on each member
Each member card shows the essentials at a glance:
Their avatar, name, and @username
A short bio
Any custom member properties the space owner has set up, shown as tags
Quick actions to send a message or, for managers, copy their email
Custom properties come from Dynamic Member Properties — a good way to make members searchable by role, location, or anything else you collect.
Interests & activity
Open a member's profile and you'll find an Interests & activity section. Interests are the themes Cobolt has noticed in what that person writes, shown as chips.
Click any interest to see the recent posts and reflections behind it — an excerpt, the date, and whether it came from a reflection or a discussion. It's the fastest way to understand what someone's been thinking about before you reach out.
Interests are discovered automatically from what people write, not typed in by hand. Space owners can curate the list — see Managing interests.
Peer discovery and introductions
Browsing is one way to find people. Cobolt can also help members find each other. When you opt into peer discovery, members of the spaces you share can discover you through the interests, frameworks, and goals you have in common — drawn from what you've already written.
Cobolt never reveals what's in your profile to others — only the themes you have in common.
When you select a member, the side panel may suggest a small first step: sharing a recent reflection, asking what they're working on, or opening a thread on a shared theme. Nothing is sent until you choose to.
Peer discovery is off by default. You can opt in or out anytime under Settings → Peer discovery. For the full picture of what's shared and how to stay private, see Cobolt privacy.
What happens next
Once you've found someone worth knowing, send them a message right from their card or profile. The more your community writes, the sharper interests and matches become — so the directory keeps getting more useful over time.
Troubleshooting
A member shows no interests. Cobolt needs enough writing to detect themes. New or quiet members may not have any yet.
Some map views are missing. Resonance and the other relational views only include members who've opted into peer discovery.
You don't want to appear. Opt out under Settings → Peer discovery. See Cobolt privacy.
