Part 1 · Connect Sutra to your AI app
What it's for: connecting Sutra to your AI app lets you manage Sutra just by chatting — your AI does the clicking for you.
The good news: there's almost nothing to set up. No software to install, no technical setup, and no API keys or tokens to create. You add Sutra in your AI app, log in through your browser, and you're done.
Everything connects through one address — Sutra's MCP connector (the standard way modern AI apps plug into other services). Wherever your app asks for a connector or URL, paste this link:

The same approach works in both apps — Claude and Codex connect the same way. The only thing that differs is where you find the “add a connector” setting.
In Claude (Desktop)
Open Settings → Connectors.
Click Add custom connector, paste the link above, and confirm.
A browser window opens — log in to Sutra and approve access.
In Codex
Tell Codex to add a new MCP server using the link above. Codex opens a browser window where you log in to Sutra and approve access — there's nothing else to download.
Important: after connecting, fully quit and reopen your AI app. It won't load Sutra until you restart.
Part 2 · Test the connection
Before you build anything, make sure your AI can actually reach Sutra:
Fully quit and reopen your AI app (it won't see Sutra until you do).
Ask it: “Can you use Sutra to list my spaces?”
If it lists your spaces, you're connected and ready to build.
If nothing shows up, re-open Connectors, confirm Sutra is added, and restart the app once more.
Part 3 · What you can do now
Once connected, you just ask your AI in plain language and it does the work inside Sutra. For example:
Create and organize spaces and pages
Build your website — turn on website mode, add a navbar and footer
Add and edit content, and import your images
Add or invite members and send emails
Set up paid plans and coupons
Manage your blog and help center
Rule of thumb: if you can do it in the Sutra dashboard, you can usually just ask your AI to do it.
Part 4 · Build your website on Sutra
What it's for: you build your site by recreating it as native Sutra pages — using Sutra's own building blocks for text, images, buttons, and sections. You do this by chatting with your AI, one page at a time.
Building new, or moving an existing site?
The method is the same either way. You're not pasting in your old website's code — you (and your AI) rebuild each page with Sutra blocks, which is what makes it fast to edit and beautiful inside Sutra.
Already have a site? For each existing page, tell your AI what's on it — paste the link and ask it to recreate that page or section as Sutra blocks.
First: turn on auto-approve
So your AI doesn't stop to ask permission every couple of seconds. Building a site means it runs many small actions in a row, and by default most apps pause each time. Switch your app into its auto-approve / auto-run mode first so it can work straight through:
Claude Code — press Shift + Tab to turn on auto-accept.
Codex — set the approval mode to Auto (or Agent / Full Access).
Claude Desktop — choose “Always allow” the first time Sutra asks.
Cursor — turn on Auto-run in the agent settings.
Windsurf — turn on Turbo mode in Cascade.
You can switch it back off anytime. (These labels drift between app versions — if you don't see the exact wording, look for the “auto” or “approve” setting.)
Then build it, step by step
Create a blank parent space on Sutra for your website. This is the home for your site. Make it Open (public and free) unless you want it private or paid.
Ask your AI: “Create an open space called [my site].”
Turn on website mode. This gives your space a real website layout, with a header and footer.
Ask your AI: “Turn on website mode for [my site].”
Rebuild your pages as Sutra blocks. Start with just one section, then go page by page. Give your AI the website link and have a conversation — headings, text, images, buttons, sections, let it build it all. Have it import your images so they're hosted in Sutra.
Ask your AI: “Build a Home page following the design and content of this link.”
Add your navigation. Set up the navbar (logo + menu links) and the footer so visitors can move around.
Ask your AI: “Add a navbar with links to Home, About, and Contact.”
Match your brand. Set your colors and fonts so it looks like your site.
Ask your AI: “Set the site colors to [your colors] and the headings to [your font].”
Preview and publish. Check each page looks right, then publish your space so it's live.
Tip: work one page at a time. Tell your AI what the page should say and include, let it build the blocks, then refine by chatting — “make the heading bigger,” “add a button under the intro,” and so on.
That's it — your website now lives in Sutra.
