Connect an event to a useful response
An automation follows a simple pattern: when a defined trigger occurs, Sutra performs one or more actions. This is useful for routine follow-up that should happen consistently without a manager repeating the same task.
For example, a new member can receive a welcome message, be added to another space, or receive a calendar invitation when those actions are available in the workflow.
Design from the outcome backward
Start with one result you want, then choose the trigger that should produce it. Add conditions only when they prevent the automation from acting on the wrong people.
Keep early workflows small. A single trigger and action are easier to understand and troubleshoot than a long sequence created before the experience has been tested.
Test before relying on it
Build and manage automations from Manage → Automations. The available triggers and actions depend on the space, your plan, and enabled features.
Run the workflow with a test member and confirm both sides: the trigger was recorded and the intended action happened. Then activate it for the wider audience and review it when your program structure changes.
