Use Members to understand a space
Members are people who have joined a particular space. The Members view answers questions such as who has access, what role they have, and whether a membership needs attention.
For example, use it to confirm that a participant joined the correct cohort or to find the managers responsible for a space.
Use Contacts to understand your audience
Contacts are the broader set of people whose information is available to your Sutra account. A contact may be available for communication without having membership in the space you are viewing.
This distinction is useful for outreach: members can receive information about the experience they joined, while contacts can be selected for an invitation or relevant broadcast.
Keep the relationship context useful
Contact records can include profile fields and information gathered through interactions with your spaces. Filters help you find a meaningful segment instead of treating everyone as one list.
Use Members when asking “Who is in this space?” Use Contacts when asking “Who is in my audience, and how are they connected to my work?”
