Sutra can load your own analytics and advertising tags on your space's public pages and checkout, and it reports purchases to your Facebook pixel and Google Tag Manager. Use it to see where your sign-ups come from and to measure which ads lead to sales.
Facebook pixel and Google Analytics are included on every paid plan, starting with Bronze. Every other tool on the list requires the Gold plan.
Add a script
Open your space and go to Manage → General settings → Registration page settings.
Scroll to Add third party scripts at the bottom of the section.
Click Add script.
Choose a Script provider.
Paste your ID into the field beside it. The field's label changes to match the tool, for example Pixel ID or Container ID.
There's no save button. Changes are saved automatically a couple of seconds after you stop typing, unless a row shows a red message.
To remove a script, click the red X on its row. You can add more than one, but Add script stays greyed out until every row has a provider and a valid ID.
Tools you can add
On every paid plan:
Facebook pixel — paste the numeric pixel ID from Meta Events Manager into Pixel ID.
Google Analytics — paste your GA4 Measurement ID, which starts with G-. You'll find it in Google Analytics under Admin → Data streams → your web stream.
On the Gold plan:
Below Gold, each of these shows (requires the Gold plan) after its name.
Which pages get tracked
Your scripts load on these pages of the space:
The public registration page, if your space displays one.
The main content page.
The checkout page.
The Payment confirmed page, which guests land on after paying without being signed in. Signed-in buyers skip it.
They do not load on discussion pages, event pages, or the rest of the members-only area.
Scripts apply only to the space you add them to. Subspaces don't inherit them, so add your scripts to each space you want to measure.
For what happens inside your space — who visited, who posted, who watched which video — use Sutra's own participation analytics instead.
Conversions your Facebook pixel receives
With a Facebook pixel on the list, Sutra reports these events to it:
PageView — on each tracked page.
InitiateCheckout — once when someone opens the checkout page.
Purchase — when a payment succeeds, with the amount and currency.
StartTrial — when a free trial begins.
CompleteRegistration — when someone joins for free from a tracked page, including a checkout that a coupon brings to zero.
Purchase is reported the moment the payment succeeds, so it works whichever page you send buyers to afterwards.
Sutra sends these checkout and purchase events only to your Facebook pixel and to Google Tag Manager. To get purchases into another tool, use Google Tag Manager.
Send purchases to Meta from Sutra's servers
A Facebook pixel runs in the buyer's browser, so ad blockers and iOS privacy limits can stop it from reporting a purchase. To close that gap, Sutra can also report each purchase to Meta directly from its own servers. Meta calls this the Conversions API. Meta matches the server report with the browser one and counts the purchase once.
To turn it on you need an access token from Meta. Once your Facebook pixel row has an ID, a Meta Conversions API section appears below your script list, with a NOT CONNECTED badge.
In Meta Events Manager, open your pixel, go to Settings, find the Conversions API section, and generate an access token. Copy it.
Back in Sutra, paste the token into the field labeled Conversions API access token.
Click Save token.
With a token saved, the badge reads CONNECTED. From then on, Sutra sends Purchase, StartTrial and checkout CompleteRegistration events to Meta from its servers as well as from the browser.
Things to know:
The token is stored encrypted and is never shown again. To change it use Replace token; to stop sending, use Remove.
CONNECTED only means a token is saved. Sutra doesn't check it with Meta, so if Meta rejects the token, the events are dropped without a message in Sutra.
Server-side sending needs the Facebook pixel row. Remove that row and sending stops, even though the token stays saved.
Each server event includes the event name and time, your checkout page's address, the amount and currency, the plan bought, the buyer's email and Sutra user ID (both hashed), and Meta's own click and browser IDs when present.
TrueMetriks
TrueMetriks requires the Gold plan and an active custom domain on your top-level space (its subspaces are covered too). To set one up, see Connect a custom domain to your Sutra website.
Until both are true the option can't be chosen, and its label says which one is missing.
Enter your TrueMetriks tracking hostname, for example t.yourdomain.com — the hostname only.
Troubleshooting
Clicking Add script opens an upgrade message — your space is on the free plan. Facebook pixel and Google Analytics come with every paid plan, starting with Bronze.
Choosing a tool opens an upgrade message instead of selecting it — that tool requires the Gold plan.
The Add script button is greyed out — a row on the list is missing a provider or has a missing or invalid ID. Fix it, or delete it with the red X.
A red message says "Only letters, numbers, dashes and underscores are allowed" — paste the ID on its own, not the surrounding script code. For Plausible and TrueMetriks, enter just the hostname.
A "Meta configured twice?" warning appears — you have both a Facebook pixel row and a Google Tag Manager row. If your container also fires a Meta tag, every event is reported twice. Let one of them own Meta: the pixel row here, or your container.
The badge says CONNECTED but Meta shows no server events — the usual cause is a wrong token or Pixel ID, which makes Meta reject the events. Check the Pixel ID, generate a new token in Events Manager and use Replace token. Also check the Facebook pixel row is still on the list.
Google Analytics shows no traffic — check that you pasted the Measurement ID (not the Stream ID, or an ID from another property), that you're testing a tracked page rather than a page inside the space, and that you're viewing the right property. Realtime is the quickest place to confirm.
