Change the language of the Sutra interface

Switch the Sutra interface between English, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, German, Italian, and French from your profile menu.

Sutra's interface is available in seven languages. You can switch at any time from your profile menu, and the change applies immediately without a reload.

How to change your language

Click your profile picture in the top right corner to open the user menu.
Click Language — the globe icon. Your current language is shown on the right of that row.
Pick a language from the list. A checkmark marks the one that is active.

What does and does not get translated

This setting translates the Sutra interface — menus, buttons, settings labels, and system messages.

It does not translate content that people have written: space names, page content, discussion posts, survey questions, emails, or anything a creator typed into their space. Those always appear in the language they were written in.

The first time you open Sutra, it tries to match your browser's language. If your browser is set to a language Sutra does not have, the interface falls back to English.

Troubleshooting

Your language reset when you switched devices or browsers — your choice is saved in the browser you made it in, not on your Sutra account. Set it again on each browser or device you use, and note that it will not survive clearing your browser data.
Parts of the screen are still in English — anything a creator wrote is not translated. If an interface label itself is untranslated, that phrase has not been translated into your language yet; let us know which screen and we will add it.
You cannot find the Language row — it sits in the menu behind your profile picture in the top right corner, between your profile links and the sign-out option. It is not in Settings.

Language is a personal preference, not a space setting — changing it affects only what you see. To change your name, photo, or email, set up or edit your profile.
