Coupons let you discount paid-space checkout for launches, scholarships, partners, and special offers. They can be percentage discounts or fixed-amount discounts, and they can apply to the first payment or to all recurring payments.
Before you start
You need to be a manager of the paid space.
The space needs Stripe connected and at least one payment plan.
Coupon management is available on Silver and Gold plans.
Coupons apply to paid-space checkout. They do not automatically discount your Sutra account subscription.
Create a coupon
Open the paid space.
Click Manage.
Open General settings and expand Privacy and payment settings.
Open the coupons or discounts area.
Create a new coupon.
Enter the coupon code.
Choose Percentage or Fixed amount.
Choose whether the discount applies to the first payment only or all payments.
Add an expiration date or plan restrictions if needed.
Save the coupon.
Preview checkout and test the code with the plan and currency you expect buyers to use.
Choose the right coupon type
Use a percentage coupon when the discount should work across currencies and plans by percentage.
Use a fixed amount coupon when you want to take a specific amount off the price. Fixed-amount coupons need an amount for each currency you want to support.
Use first payment only when you want an introductory discount on the first charge of a recurring plan.
Use all payments when the discount should continue on future subscription invoices for that buyer.
Why a coupon code is invalid
A code can be invalid because:
The coupon is inactive or has been deleted.
The coupon has expired.
The coupon is restricted to a different payment plan.
The buyer selected a plan currency that the fixed-amount coupon does not support.
The paid-space checkout itself is not available because Stripe, plan visibility, capacity, prerequisites, or payment confirmation is blocking the purchase.
Spacing and capitalization should not be the cause. Sutra removes whitespace and matches codes without caring about case, so summer 25, SUMMER25, and Summer25 point to the same normalized code.
What happens next
Once a coupon is used, the completed payment keeps its own discount record. Editing or deactivating the coupon affects future checkouts, not historical payments. Existing Stripe subscriptions may keep the coupon that was attached at checkout.
Troubleshooting
If a first-payment coupon did not discount later invoices, change future offers to all payments.
If a fixed-amount coupon works in USD but not EUR, add a fixed amount for EUR or use a percentage coupon.
If you want to change a percentage coupon into a fixed coupon, deactivate the old coupon and create a new one.
If someone already paid without the coupon, applying the coupon later will not change that existing payment.
