Suppressions prevent Sutra from sending broadcast email to addresses that should not receive it. This protects your sender reputation and respects people who unsubscribe.
Before you start
You must be a manager of the space.
Only remove a suppression when you know the address is valid and the person wants to receive broadcasts again.
Spam complaints should not be re-subscribed without the recipient's clear consent.
Open the suppression list
Open Manage.
Choose the space.
Go to Broadcasts.
Open Settings.
Select the Suppressions tab.
The suppression list includes search, filter chips, export, and actions for individual addresses.
Why someone is suppressed
Unsubscribed means the person opted out of broadcasts for that space.
Hard bounce means the mailbox rejected the email in a way that indicates the address may not be valid.
Repeated bounce means Sutra has seen repeated delivery failures.
Spam complaint means the recipient marked a broadcast as spam.
Hard bounces can suppress email more broadly. A broadcast unsubscribe applies to broadcasts for that space.
Re-subscribe someone
Search for the person's email address.
Review the suppression reason.
Confirm the person wants to receive broadcasts again.
Select Re-subscribe.
Sutra keeps a record that the address was unsuppressed. Future broadcasts can include the person if they match the broadcast audience.
Remove a suppression
Use Remove only when the suppression record should be deleted. In most support cases, Re-subscribe is the safer action because it preserves the history.
Export suppressions
Use Export to download a CSV of suppressed addresses. This is useful when auditing delivery issues or comparing your Sutra list with another email system.
What happens next
When you send a broadcast, Sutra automatically skips addresses that are unsubscribed or suppressed. If someone still does not receive a broadcast after being re-subscribed, check whether they match the broadcast audience and recipient filters.
