The Partner program lets other people promote your paid space and earn a commission on the members they refer. You turn it on for a space, set the commission and terms, and anyone with a Sutra account can share their personal link and get paid when someone joins through it.
Turn on the Partner program
Open the space you want to promote and go to Manage → Partners.
Toggle the Space Partner card on and confirm. The program starts with sensible defaults you can change at any time.
Use the Settings button to fine-tune your terms. Settings are per space, so choose the space from the switcher first.
Set your commission and terms
Open Partner Settings to control how much partners earn and for how long:
Commission — the percentage of each attributed payment a partner earns. The default is 30%, up to 90%. It’s paid from your revenue, and the usual Sutra fee still applies.
Applies to — pay commission on every payment a referral makes, or only their first.
Commission duration — how long a referral keeps earning after they join. The default is 12 months (up to 36).
Payout window — how long commissions are held before paying out, so they can cover refunds. The default is 90 days; the minimum is 14.
Cookie window — how long a partner’s link stays credited before someone joins. The default is 90 days, which is also the maximum. The first link someone clicks wins.
Commission is withheld at checkout, so your payouts already reflect it — nothing is deducted from you later.
How partners share and get credited
Anyone with a Sutra account can be a partner — there’s no application to approve. Each member has a personal share link for your space (it ends in ?r= their username) that they’ll find under Settings → Affiliates → Space Partners.
As a manager, you can also create custom links (ending in ?p= a code you choose) that credit a specific person — handy for a launch partner who isn’t a member yet.
Credit is first-touch: the first link someone clicks wins, and it stays with that partner. Clicks are shown for information only — earnings are based on who actually joins and pays.
You can’t earn commission on your own space through your personal link, and self-purchases never earn.
Getting paid
Partners are paid by Sutra to their connected Stripe account. They connect Stripe on the Sutra ambassador tab in their settings; until they do, commissions are held as “Awaiting Stripe setup.”
Each commission is released after your payout window (90 days by default), which acts as a buffer for refunds. Payouts run automatically, and partners get an email when a transfer is sent.
If a referred member is refunded, unpaid commission on that payment is voided or reduced. Because of the payout window, this almost always happens before anything is paid out.
Stripe accounts based in Australia can’t currently receive these transfers.
Track your partners
The Partners page shows your partner revenue, commissions owed and next payout date, active partners, and referrals.
The Partners, Referrals, and Custom links tabs break down clicks, referrals, revenue, and commission per partner and per link, and you can export referrals to CSV.
Blocking a partner stops them earning on future payments right away; anything they’ve already earned is still owed. Turning the program off cancels active referrals but still pays out what’s been earned.
Want to earn when your members start their own paid Sutra accounts? That’s the Auto Ambassador program.
