A coupon link automatically applies an existing coupon when someone reaches checkout for your space. Use it to share an offer without asking participants to type the code themselves.
Before you start
You need a space with payment plans and an active coupon for that space. If you haven't created the coupon yet, follow Create and troubleshoot coupon codes.
The coupon's usual expiration date, payment plan restrictions, and supported currencies still apply.
Create your coupon link
Copy your space's registration-page link or checkout link. Choose the registration page if you want people to read about your offer first, or checkout if you want them to go straight to payment options.
If the link has no ?, add ?coupon=WELCOME20. If it already has ?, add &coupon=WELCOME20 instead.
Replace WELCOME20 with your coupon code. Keep the rest of the link unchanged. If it already contains coupon=, replace that code instead of adding a second coupon.
In the examples below, SPACE_IDENTIFIER is the identifier immediately after /space/ in your existing space link. For example, in /space/abc123/register, the identifier is abc123. Copy this value from your own link; it is not the space's display name.
For example, a registration link would look like this:
https://sutra.co/space/SPACE_IDENTIFIER/register?coupon=WELCOME20
A checkout link would look like this:
https://sutra.co/space/SPACE_IDENTIFIER/checkout?coupon=WELCOME20
If your checkout link already selects a payment plan, keep its existing plan value and add the coupon with &:
https://sutra.co/space/SPACE_IDENTIFIER/checkout?plan=PLAN_UID&coupon=WELCOME20
These are examples: use your own space link, coupon code, and existing plan value. If your link contains #, put the coupon before that part of the link.
Coupon codes must be 3–30 characters long. Sutra removes spaces and converts letters to uppercase when saving a code, so welcome 20 becomes WELCOME20. Use the saved code shown in your coupon settings.
Special characters such as +, &, and # are allowed in coupon codes. Letters and numbers are easiest to share. If your code contains symbols, URL-encode those symbols in the link: for example, use %2B for +, %26 for &, and %23 for #.
What participants experience
On the registration page, Sutra remembers the code for that space for up to seven days in the same browser and site. When the participant continues to checkout, Sutra tries the code automatically after the payment plans load. A direct checkout link does the same thing immediately after the plans load.
The result is the same as entering the code in Coupon code and clicking Apply. A valid coupon appears with its discount at checkout. An expired code or one that doesn't apply to the selected plan will show an error.
Participants can remove an applied coupon using the × beside it. They can then enter another code and click Apply.
Remembering a code does not extend its expiration date. If someone changes browser or device, clears browser data, or blocks browser storage, they may need to open your coupon link again.
Check the link before sharing
Open the finished link in a browser where you aren't signed in as the space manager. Use the participant link rather than the manager preview, which does not automatically apply coupon links.
If you linked to registration, continue through to checkout.
Check that the intended payment plan, coupon, and discounted price appear before sharing the link.
If the coupon doesn't apply, check that it is active, hasn't expired, and supports the selected payment plan and currency. See Create and troubleshoot coupon codes for help with those settings.
