Today I am sharing what is possibly one of my most personal recordings on a subject that is rarely comfortable to talk about: shame.
You may be wondering what shame has to do with group process or online learning or any of the things that Sutra might be associated with. Our work is about becoming collectively present to what is in the space of human experience. Group work and learning together is a vehicle to discover ourselves and each other in a deeper and more authentic way.
One of the most universal of personal conditions is shame. Transformational group work creates a container for the most challenging aspects of our experience to be witnessed. In that witnessing we are able to surface and process what might otherwise obstruct and constrain our way of being.
Many people struggle with shame as if it’s a unique condition. The great irony is that it is actually what most of us have in common.
Today’s video explores five specific techniques that have helped me transform shame in a powerful way. Please enjoy.
And on the subject of group process… this Thursday we’re launching the second cohort of our Transformational Teaching Online mentorship program. If you’ve ever wanted to create an online program that genuinely touches people’s lives, this course will show you how.
We distill everything we have learned over the last five years of working with groups online. You’ll join a group experience where you’ll be able to directly practice holding space and working with people. Each week you’ll have a two hour zoom call, office hours for one-on-one support, and new assignments that will help you plan your offering, put together the content, set up the technical stuff, and do the outreach necessary to build an audience for your initial launch. You will learn the building blocks of an experience that generates presence and meaningful connection.
