Last year was a big year for Sutra and we want to take a moment to share some of the highlights of our journey…
We completed a major update of our learning platform
After many months of development, we completely updated our content creation interface. We’re committed to creating one of the most powerful and intuitive content editors in the world. If you’re building a learning experience, our new interface gives you more control and makes it easier to organize your content exactly the way you want to.
We added an entirely new website builder to our feature set
One of the biggest needs that our creators have is the need to share their work with the world. Our previous registration page feature was super basic and didn’t provide people with the ability to create rich presentation pages for their programs. Our new editor offers a super easy to use drag and drop creation experience that lets you use templates to create beautiful landing pages in minutes.
We grew our team from 2 people to 8 people
We started Sutra to support people who feel called to create online experiences that generate meaningful connection and conversation. In 2020, our user base grew over 500% and we realized we had to grow our team to keep up. We’re totally self funded, so making our first hire was a pretty scary commitment. Now, we’ve grown to 8 people and our team feels like an incredible family.
Our user base grew past 28,000
Last year, we hit a huge milestone: Sutra supported over 28,000 people participating in group experiences. As we continue to grow, we’re committed to building an incredible home for any community or group interested in learning together.

Transformational Teaching Online program
One of the greatest joys of our work has been working with the incredible people that have passed through our TTO program. For anyone interested in created a truly emergent and relational learning experience, this program guides you through every step of the way. We’ve learned so much through each cohort and continue to improve our program and platform based on what we learn.
We got really clear on what we’re about
Building Sutra has been a highly emergent process from the beginning. Much of our journey has been about sensing into what’s next and trusting the process. In 2021, we crystalized the guiding question behind our work:
How do you create deeper awareness and connection within a system?
Whether that system is a small group of 5 people or a thriving organization, we’re focused on developing tools and processes to deepen the level of awareness and connection between those people.
This year we’re committed to significantly improving almost every aspect of the Sutra user experience. You can expect richer content creation options, better discussion harvesting tools, and more options for creating truly generative and relational learning experiences. We’ll also be creating and sharing a lot more content to support you in your course creation journey. Over the last ten years we’ve learned a lot about what it takes to create online experiences that invite authentic connection and deep conversation and we’ll be sharing more of this through written guides and videos soon.
